Bentley is getting ready to unveil its fastest production car yet, the Bentley Continental GT Speed

Bentley moves forward with the official unveiling of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed, the sportier version that will arrive on 23 March.

When we think of Bentley, words like sporty, effective or radical don’t really come to mind. What comes to mind instead is luxury and exclusivity taken to their highest expression, wrapped in technology, sophistication and quality. However, the English brand wants to put an end to these clichés, even if they are true and not necessarily negative, with the Bentley Continental GT Speed, a sportier and faster version of the coupé, which has already been hinted at in a teaser through its overwhelming sound.

For now, Bentley is keeping a deafening silence about this new variant, letting us only hear its melody and glimpse part of its design. Still, we must not forget that we are not looking at a Bentley Continental GT GT3-R, that is, a limited edition where sportiness and exclusivity are the main banners.

The side view of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed shows an overall set that looks more imposing, even though some fundamental details remain unknown. Still, we can see wider wheel arches, a lower and surely firmer suspension, and more refined aerodynamics. To all this we should add a cabin where carbon fibre and Alcantara will most likely reign.

While we admire its look, the English house has also wanted to offer us a brief but intense video in which we can witness its sound. An overwhelming and raw melody lets us confirm that we are still facing a turbocharged W12 engine which, unfortunately, is in danger of extinction.

Let us remember that, as standard, the Bentley Continental GT features this same engine, a 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 that produces 635 CV and 900 Nm of torque. With these figures, the English Grand Tourer goes from 0 to 100 in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 333 km/h. The Speed name is synonymous with performance, so we can expect an output capable of exceeding 700 CV and 1,000 Nm of torque, making it one of the fastest Continental GTs in history, if not the fastest.

Be that as it may, the brand already has everything ready for the debut of the Bentley Continental GT Speed, a variant that will arrive next 23 March. At the same time, its corresponding convertible version is expected, with both acting as the final chapter of this generation of the Continental GT and thus paving the way for its successor which will probably feature a hybrid mechanical layout. Time will tell.
