BMW Films repeats the success of 2001 with a new short film: “The Escape”

Following the success achieved in 2001 with “The Hire”, BMW Films returns to the big screen with “The Escape”. The new short film reached 100,000 views on its first day online.

If in 2001 BMW Films brought together great directors and actor Clive Owen to produce “The Hire”, a series of short films aimed at promoting the cars of the German brand, 15 years later BMW is back in action with “The Escape”; this time to give visibility to the new BMW 5 Series 2017.

This format reported more than 10 million views at the beginning of the century and, most importantly, set a precedent when it came to advertising cars in the automotive industry.

The new short film by BMW Films, “The Escape”, once again stars Clive Owen and is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9). Actor Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) and Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring) are other well-known faces in this film. The car chosen by BMW for “the escape” is not yet on sale and is none other than the 2017 5 Series saloon.

Having been posted on YouTube for one day, the video already has around 100,000 views and is receiving very good reviews. It remains to be seen whether, as happened in 2001, BMW launches one or more sequels that turn this short into the first of a long series.
