BMW M4 CSL 2022: first look at the long-awaited Bavarian sports car
The German manufacturer has just announced the presentation date for the most powerful and exclusive version of its M4, accompanied by two new images

Taking advantage of the Villa d’Este concours d’elegance, held on May 20, 21 and 22, BMW will officially unveil its new BMW M4 CSL 2022, which will be the most radical and exclusive version of the M4, and also one of the most anticipated launches from the Bavarian brand this year.
The announcement was made through a social media post accompanied by two teaser images that offer a fairly brief look at both the front and rear of this model, leaving us eager until its presentation in just over two weeks.
Very promising features
In the mentioned images, apart from its menacing gaze thanks to its sharp light units and the pronounced ridges of its bonnet, an aggressive front splitter and large cooling intakes for its engine can be made out.

In the rear image, modern taillights with OLED technology and a subtle, sporty spoiler can be seen, which adds an extra touch of sportiness to the whole. This makes it clear that, although its styling will be largely based on the conventional model, it will feature specific carbon-fibre elements that give it an extra dose of aggression.
Its main appeal lies under the bonnet
One of the major strengths of the CSL version is its more track-focused approach, with extra power and reduced weight. It is rumoured to produce around 550 CV from the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine and may even be stripped of its rear seats to achieve more agile handling by shedding some unnecessary kilos.
It is also unknown what kind of drivetrain it will have. It could feature an all-wheel-drive system identical to that of the standard M4, or alternatively, a rear-wheel-drive system which, in addition to being lighter, would give it that special race-car character that purists will appreciate.
