BMW M5 'Ring Taxi

As you may remember, some time ago BMW announced that its “Taxi” service at the Nürburgring was going to lose one of its jewels: the chance to take a lap of the legendary German circuit not only as a passenger alongside a professional driver, but aboard a beast like the previous-generation BMW M5.

After the disappointment we felt at the time, today is a day to look at this service with optimism again, because if a ride in an M3 E92 felt like a bit of a letdown, you’ll surely enjoy a ride in an BMW M5 F10 much more. Well, this is the surprise that BMW has just revealed: the incorporation of its latest creation into its own Nürburgring service.

As you can see, the vehicle designated by BMW bears little or no resemblance to the one that previously provided the service. From a pristine white and a very eye-catching livery, we’ve moved to numerous units painted in a much more discreet blue, combined with certain vinyl decals.

Unfortunately, BMW has made it clear that the vehicles chosen for this service are “standard” M5s straight from the factory, that is, without any kind of mechanical modification. Personally, I don’t think they need any, thanks to figures like the 560 horsepower drawn from a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, which allow this car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds or reach a top speed of 305 km/h.
