BMW Series 7 The Next 100 Years Edition. Maximum luxury to celebrate the centenary

As you may know, at the beginning of last March, specifically on the 7th, BMW will celebrate a very special birthday: its first century of life. The media buzz this centenary generated was huge, so much so that one of its greatest rivals in history, Mercedes, dedicated a congratulatory video to the occasion.

Last month, BMW dominated the covers of most motoring media, and the manufacturer showed several concept models of what, in theory, it will offer over the next hundred years.

As expected, there was no shortage of limited editions and special versions to commemorate its 100th birthday. The first of them is the one you see in the images. Based on its current flagship, the German firm presents the BMW Series 7 “The Next 100 Years” edition.

As you can see in the images, there is no revolution in terms of exterior aesthetic changes. The bodywork boasts a special colour called “Centennial Blue” and inscriptions on the central pillars reading “The Next 100 Years”. The 10-spoke alloy wheels with a 20-inch diameter are also specific to this edition.

The main changes come inside, with handcrafted upholstery in white merino leather for the seats and the door panels. The roof is lined in Alcantara, while the BMW Individual steering wheel receives wood inserts. The centre console carries the inscription “1 of 100”, and the central trim running across the dashboard again displays the phrase “The Next 100 Years”.

This limited edition of 100 units of the BMW Series 7 will be available with three different engines: a 4.4-litre V8 producing 450 hp, a 6.6-litre V12 with 612 hp, and the technologically advanced plug-in hybrid with a 2-litre four-cylinder engine combined with a 326 hp electric motor.

We do not yet know the prices or who the lucky customers will be who gain access to this luxury saloon in its limited edition, but buyers will receive a “Montblanc” gold pen in the same colour as the bodywork.
