BMW X4 Photos Salón de Shanghai SUV
BMW shows new photos of the X4 Concept

BMW presented one of its concepts earlier this month, the X4. It is the smaller sibling of the X6, an SUV with an urban and off-road character that is likely to reach production with no changes beyond those needed to make the transition to the real world. Production is scheduled to start at the end of the year at the brand’s plant in South Carolina, USA.
The X4 Concept was not supposed to be revealed until the next Shanghai Motor Show, but leaks gave us a look at its sleek silhouette ahead of time.
Based on the X3’s chassis, the X4 is aimed at a more discerning buyer, with fewer practical needs but greater aesthetic ones. With a very aggressive front end, borrowing the headlight design of the 3 Series, it seeks to stand out from the competition and go head-to-head with major players in the segment such as the successful Range Rover Evoque.
The side and rear are very reminiscent of the X6, as it takes its lines and scales them down, creating a compact and muscular SUV, with smooth, rounded lines, in contrast to the Evoque’s right angles and sharp edges. Its interior is still unknown, but from here we bet on a mix of the X3 and the 3 Series.
Its driving is expected to be very dynamic, placing it at the head of the segment, while its off-road abilities will be somewhat more limited, leaving the lead to the Evoque. For now, it is expected to reach the production line with two engines under its bonnet: a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder offering 240 CV and 350 Nm of torque, and a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder, also with TwinPower Turbo technology, which will deliver 300 CV and 400 Nm of torque.
