BMW X6 M diesel takes a spin around the Nürburgring

Remember the hypothetical BMW M5 diesel we talked about a few days ago? As you will surely recall, it sparked great controversy at the mere idea of BMW building a high-performance diesel engine in collaboration with the brand’s own high-performance division, something undoubtedly hard to swallow.

Well, after an interesting debate we reached the conclusion that the new 3.0-litre tri-turbo diesel engine block was basically a move that was more than expected from BMW, so that vehicles such as the X5 or the X6 could compete and, above all, stand up to those V10 diesels built by Volkswagen that currently power the Q7 or Touareg, to name just a few examples.

Well, finally BMW, at least for now, has only officially stated that they are developing the engine block in question, so we still don’t know exactly what kind of performance the supposed 500 hp engine could deliver, a more than interesting output that, judging by the photos in this post, should move the X6 on screen with more than ease.

Unfortunately, for now all we know is that BMW is finalising the details of this new version, so we cannot guarantee that the German brand will present any kind of preview at the Frankfurt Motor Show, an event that opens its doors in a couple of weeks.
