Brazil could register more cars than Germany this year

Brazil is one of the most important emerging markets at the moment. After the all-powerful China and India, the Latin American market, given its enormous growth potential and the large number of inhabitants it has, has always held a prominent place in the expansion plans of the major brands.
However, this is now becoming a reality, and this year we could see Brazil register more cars in one year than Germany, the birthplace of European motoring. The excess sales of last year, driven by the state aid that saved many jobs in 2009 in a strategic sector, will mean that this year the population’s capacity to buy cars will be lower.
Logically, as soon as these countries achieve a certain economic stability in their middle class, in absolute numbers they will in many cases surpass the small European countries, since Brazil has more than 200 million inhabitants, around 40% of Western Europe. Lamborghini has a dealership in Brazil, the spearhead of its expansion into Latin America.
The Volkswagen Gol, based on the popular Golf, has for years been the segment leader in the country of football, and together with the Fox is partly responsible for Brazil registering so many vehicles. Studies by IHS and J.D. Power & Associates indicate that even without this effect, it is estimated that by 2015, for “natural causes”, Brazil would already surpass Germany in this ranking.
