The French brand could create a luxury electric saloon for 2023. It would be a battery electric vehicle and could reach 420 km/h.

Bugatti could build a luxury electric saloon for 2023. Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti, already announced at the last Paris Motor Show the brand’s intention to expand its lineup. According to the French brand, work could be underway on a luxury electric sedan based on the Porsche Taycan.

It is quite possible that Bugatti will indulge itself by developing an entry-level model for the ‘mass’ market, with a price that would come close to 900,000 euros. The future luxury electric saloon from Bugatti could be fitted with a 1,500 CV powertrain capable of reaching 420 km/h.

The engine that could power the luxury electric sedan from Bugatti would be fully electric. This could take electric cars to a new level. Thanks to this type of model, it would be possible to build an infrastructure in the not-too-distant future.

The President of Bugatti told Bloomberg during the Geneva Motor Show that he would like to see the brand “making a battery electric car. That way, the balance between performance and comfort will be more important”.

“In the future of Bugatti, top speed no longer plays the main role. From now on, we are going to place emphasis on the overall dynamics of the vehicle, lightweight construction and sustainable luxury,” Winkelmann concluded.

Bugatti would ‘stretch’ the platform it has used for the Porsche and its Porsche Taycan. Among other components, Bugatti would have to add large amounts of carbon fibre and lightweight materials. This would allow the brand to bring a viable product to market much sooner. Using this platform would not prevent the model from being built entirely by hand, as is the case with the rest of the brand’s vehicles.

According to some sources, this future electric model from Bugatti would aim to move away from the Volkswagen group, even though it would share its platform with Porsche. Its name has also been speculated about, and it could be called Royale.

Although it will not reach the market until 2023, many rumours could start to emerge about the future luxury electric model from Bugatti. The French brand itself has stated that its average customer owns at least 42 vehicles and that, thanks to this car, which will be more affordable than the rest of its models, they may be able to park their ‘old’ Rolls-Royce and drive the luxury electric saloon from Bugatti.
