The last few weeks have seen an intense bombardment of teasers from Bugatti for its latest creation, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo, a model designed exclusively for the famous Play Station video game. Its debut will take place during the 66th Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its doors on 15 September. In the meantime, we can learn some details about this digital creature.

Designed to celebrate Bugatti’s competition history and as a tribute to the great racing tradition of Bugatti in the 1920s and 1930s, as well as its victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Starting with the exterior, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo inherits the silhouette and shapes of the Veyron, the French manufacturer’s last production model. Notable features include the horseshoe-shaped grille, the integrated logo, the headlights with eight points of light, the air vents on the bonnet, the shape of the doors with air intakes for the engine, the prominent body kit and the huge three-point rear spoiler.

The cabin, for its part, is advanced, technological and has a great competition heritage. The steering wheel mimics the controls of an aircraft, the digital instrument cluster follows this design philosophy, the dashboard is minimalist, with a central console that includes barely a dozen switches, carbon fibre for the roof and a supposed monocoque chassis, as well as the bucket seat and the door, where weight reduction has required the installation of a leather pull handle.

Only two premises were essential for the design of the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo. First, the virtual car had to be a Bugatti, recognisable from any angle and, second, every part of the vehicle had to have a real function. For this reason, it was developed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, creator of the Gran Turismo franchise, and the car features cutting-edge racing technology and precise aerodynamic analysis.

According to the brand, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo will be displayed as a real racing vehicle at the Frankfurt Show.
