Buy a Fisker Karma and have dinner with Henrik Fisker

This may not be the most fitting entry for a car blog, but let’s take it as a curiosity and as yet another demonstration of the extremes that can be reached in the most obscure marketing strategies of brands. The fact is that if you buy a Toyota you will not be able to go to dinner with Akio Toyoda, nor with Dieter Zetsche should you buy a whole Mercedes, but you could do so with Henrik Fisker if you decide to buy a Fisker Karma.
Fisker’s controversial CEO has confessed that he has gone to breakfast or dinner with more than 500 buyers and prospects for his vehicles, around the world, whether at special brand events or private ones. I do not have to hand the exact number of vehicles Fisker has sold worldwide, but Fisker himself says that this figure is a quarter of all the cars the company has sold so far.
According to the brand, this habit of its CEO is one of the most innovative ways of promoting its products, without the need to invest large sums in advertising campaigns. Another advantage they have found in this new form of outreach is that the customer will feel more committed to the brand and will be able to give their opinion freely about the product, directly to the top boss of the company no less.
Nobody knows how many dinners Henrik Fisker has ahead of him to convince more candidates to buy his cars, nor how many of them might one day become potential investors in the company, but there is no doubt that it is a highly unusual strategy.
