BYD Dolphin: another model from the Chinese brand that wants to conquer Spain
BYD is taking its European rollout seriously and now presents another model that will reach the market during the autumn, although it can be reserved in June.

We have been talking quite a lot about BYD, the brand whose initials conceal the slogan Build Your Dreams. Which means Build your dreams. And it seems that the dream of the founders of this Chinese automotive company is to reach Europe and position itself as a benchmark brand for buyers on our continent. So they are ready to land in our market, and they will not do it only with the three models that are already available.
Right now the BYD Atto 3, the BYD Han and the BYD Tang are on sale. But soon other models will arrive that aim to establish the image of BYD in European markets. One of those models arriving shortly is the BYD Dolphin, a compact electric car that has been unveiled and already has its arrival date in Europe set and, by extension, in Spain.

Compact, electric and efficient
The BYD Dolphin has a length of 4.29 metres, with a wheelbase of 2.7 metres. It uses the same platform found under the Atto 3, the e-Platform 3.0. Energy is stored in a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. It has a capacity of 60 kWh, which gives it a range of 420 kilometres.
Battery charging does not offer a very high power, but it will allow up to 88 kW. As for the motor, it delivers a power of 149 kW, equivalent to 200 CV, located on the front axle. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 7.1 seconds.

In terms of styling, the front will have a fully closed front grille, as is appropriate for an electric vehicle. The front light units feature a minimalist light signature, and at the rear the light units span the full width of the car, with the brand’s full name readable, Build Your Dreams. On the sides, the door handles are flush with the doors, which improves aerodynamics.
Inside, there is a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, located in the centre of the dashboard. Another screen displays all the instrument cluster information. The boot has a capacity of 345 litres, a notable figure that makes it efficient to use.
When will the BYD Dolphin arrive in Spain?
The latest news we had received was that it would arrive “soon“, but now it has been announced when the order books for this model will open. In Europe, the BYD Dolphin can be reserved from 23 June. The first units will be delivered in autumn, although we do not know the exact date.
