BYD has already manufactured 500,000 units of the Dolphin model
The fully electric SUV from BYD with 240 CV has reached the half-million-unit production milestone, marking a before and after in the history of BYD

In yet another step by the company Build Your Dreams towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, BYD has announced the production of its 500,000th Dolphin model, the segment C battery electric car that has won the hearts of sustainable mobility enthusiasts since its debut in the Chinese market in August 2021. The BYD Dolphin has managed to remain the best-selling vehicle in China for 19 consecutive months, demonstrating BYD’s position as a leader and its ambition to conquer the European market.
The Dolphin was presented in Brazil in June 2023, and in just two months it had already won over more than 4,000 drivers. This milestone not only set a new historical record for electric vehicle sales in Brazil, but also made the Dolphin the best-selling 100% electric vehicle in the country during the month of August. In Thailand, this vehicle also made a splash, reaching fifth place in the electric vehicle ranking in its first month on the market, with a total of 481 units sold.

BYD already had a strong presence in other regions before operating in Europe, but it has undoubtedly demonstrated a firm commitment to sustainability by producing more than 5.1 million electric vehicles and its vision of “cooling the Earth by 1°C“, along with its constant drive towards a sustainable and bright future of mobility.
The Dolphin stands out, like all BYD models, for its agility, versatility and the incorporation of innovative technologies developed in-house by BYD, which, when you add the good standard of finish seen in its interior, makes it one of the best options for anyone considering buying an electric vehicle.

From 0 to 100 in 7 seconds thanks to the Blade Battery
The foundation of the Dolphin’s success lies in the Blade Battery together with its innovative e-Platform 3.0, a platform designed exclusively for 100% electric vehicles that not only guarantees outstanding aerodynamic efficiency, but also offers exceptional structural rigidity and a spacious interior, combined with an 8-in-1 electric drive system.

The BYD Dolphin is equipped with a 60.4 kWh battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor that allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. It delivers a maximum torque of 310 Nm and a power output of 240 CV (150 kW), allowing it to reach a top speed of 160 km/h.
As for its design, the Dolphin, inspired by the concept of “Oceanic Aesthetics“, combines dynamic lines that evoke the movement of waves with characterful details that make it visually striking. The interior of the vehicle reflects its commitment to sustainability, with sporty seats upholstered in vegan leather that offer exceptional comfort for long journeys. These seats feature generous lateral support, whose design is also inspired by the majesty of the ocean.
