BYD Yuan Pro: the promising SUV from the Chinese brand, will it be called Atto 2?

The Chinese car manufacturer, Build Your Dreams, announces the launch of a car that promises to revolutionize the electric market, the BYD Yuan Pro 2023. This new model is available in China in three variants, with a price ranging between 12,600 and 15,400 euros, offering a wide range of options for consumers.

It is not yet known what name the new SUV from the Chinese brand will be given in Europe, but its smaller sibling, the Yuan Plus, was given the name Atto 3, so everything suggests that this SUV will be called Atto 2 in Europe. Both the exterior and interior continue with the successful design of the previous model, but adding new colors and details.

In the catalogue the brand offers in the European region, we find five models: the Atto 3, Dolphin, Han, Seal and Tang, models that have been well received by consumers. The brand is already producing other models that will join its catalogue shortly. Will the BYD Yuan Pro be sold in Europe as the Atto2?

Remarkable range at an affordable price

In terms of size, the Yuan Pro positions itself as a small SUV, with a body length, width and height of 4,375/1,785/1,680 m, respectively. The wheelbase is 2,535 m, providing an optimal balance to this model. High sales are expected in European territory, where consumers tend to prefer SUVs.

In terms of performance, this model has been equipped with a range of between 320 and 401 kilometres thanks to its lithium iron phosphate batteries. These batteries have capacities of 38 kWh and 47.04 kWh, respectively, and the option of fast charging, which allows the batteries to be charged in just 30 minutes. It features a permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power of 95 CV (70 kW) and a maximum torque of 180 Nm.

Original and technological design

The front design is elegant and simple, and great care has been taken to equip it with the latest lighting technology, including automatic LED headlights, dynamic turn signals and adaptation to road conditions. At the front are the fast and slow charging ports, while the body sides feature a compact design and new elements, such as black plastic panels on the wheel arches.

This model has a distinctive and refined design. It comes in a new paint finish called “Vital Powder“, available in three colours: pink, white and grey. At the rear it features a classic external spare wheel design, with a side-hinged tailgate and retro rear lights. The rear bumper is made of black plastic and includes fog lights and reversing lights, and the roof has a silver roof rack.

Fresh, renewed interior design

Upon entering the interior of the BYD Yuan Pro 2023, drivers and passengers are greeted by a two-tone interior colour scheme of blue and white called “Fresh Blue“. It features an 8-inch instrument panel and a 10.1-inch central control screen, which have become standard across the whole range with its new DiLink 4.0 smart network connection system. The centre console has a minimalist design, with control buttons for driving mode and air conditioning located around the gear lever. A wireless charging pad has also been added for added convenience.

The interior seats with the “Fresh Blue” design offer an attractive colour combination, and the cushions of the rear seats have been extended to provide greater comfort. In addition, a USB charging port has been added in the centre of the rear row, and the boot offers ample storage space, which can be extended even further by folding down the seats.
