Carlsson CGL45, more aggression for your Mercedes GL

According to the latest press release published by the German tuner Carlsson, its latest creation, called CGL45, has been built to make your Mercedes GL-Class aggressive to unimaginable limits. Honestly, I didn’t think anyone could do this to an SUV of these characteristics.

Still, as with everything in life, it all comes down to taste, and if you’re interested I’d advise you to wait for the Frankfurt Motor Show before deciding anything, so you can see it in person, since, according to the press release issued by the German tuner himself, they will have a unit ready in time for the event.

As for the body kit you can see on screen, it consists of elements such as new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, widened wheel arches, a front grille with the tuner’s logo, LED daytime running lights, dual fog lights, a front spoiler, and a rear diffuser with outlets for four exhausts…

A compendium of upgrades where perhaps the most noticeable and at the same time most attractive are the new 22-inch alloy wheels fitted with 305/35 ZR22 high-performance tyres, or the new sport suspension that will lower the height of your enormous SUV by a further 30 mm.

Setting aside the striking styling and moving into the cabin, you’ll find a high-quality interior at the very least, upholstered in top-quality leather and Alcantara, along with trim in the finest wood and stainless steel. Worth highlighting in this section are the aluminium pedals, door sill plates and headrests with the tuner’s logo.

Mechanically, Carlsson has worked on the 3.0-litre diesel V6 and the huge V8 fitted to the GL500, for which they have managed to raise the power to 435 horsepower and 500 Nm of peak torque. In the diesel version, power rises to 310 horsepower and an even more impressive 700 Nm of peak torque.
