Chevrolet Matiz of the Belgian police

Autoblog.nl brings us this image of a Belgian police car. So far, so normal. What is most curious is that the model chosen to serve the authorities is a Chevrolet Matiz.

Not because it is any less worthy than others, but because of its reduced engine capacity and low power output. Let’s remember that in Spain the largest engine available for the Matiz is a 1.0 with 65 CV, which is rather modest for emergency situations. It is certainly a curious image, and we also don’t know what use this Chevrolet Matiz is intended for.

The closest case of low-powered vehicles used by different police forces is perhaps the Fiat 500 of the Australian police or the Dacia Logan of the Romanian police, but even so, these two previous cases are more powerful vehicles than the Matiz in the photo.
