Chevrolet Trax: the very close sibling of the Opel Mokka

Chevrolet will unveil the Trax in Paris in a few days. It is the American brand’s new offer, based on the Opel Mokka, and it will offer the same engines as its German sibling, along with a few more options that are quite interesting.

Following on from the Opel Mokka in the compact SUV segment, it is now Chevrolet’s turn to have its own variant, called the Trax, in a segment that is growing by leaps and bounds and that accommodates compact SUVs that more than meet the transport needs of a small family, along with the comforts offered by its five seats.

This model will be sold worldwide, unlike the Mokka, which has found its market in Europe. The American company already has everything in place to present it at the Paris Motor Show in just a few days, with a range of engines that will include two petrol engines and one diesel (1.4 turbo, 1.6 and 1.7 turbo diesel), the same as in the Mokka range.

The Trax will be an attractive model for those who enjoy country outings; the 1.4-litre variants (the smallest engine in the range) and the diesel variant will come with all-wheel drive. These two engines will also be equipped with Start/Stop and a six-speed manual gearbox.

The higher-spec models will come as standard with the Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system, which integrates the content of a smartphone into the high-resolution touchscreen on the dashboard. Towards the end of the year, MyLink will include a downloadable navigation system from smartphones that will project the calculated route onto the touchscreen.

The Trax will fill the gap below the Captiva, a necessary competitor in those markets where the Ecosport from Ford is also sold, which has already presented its new generation. And honestly, it looks much better at first glance in the photos and has a better chance of taking a good share of the sales.
