Classic Muscle Cars Sadly Abandoned in Japan
Several American muscle cars abandoned somewhere in Japan are spending their final days in complete oblivion.

We could imagine that in the near future, certain cars from certain brands will be found abandoned everywhere, with large-displacement engines, since maintaining them will be impossible due to the cost of petrol and/or the taxes owners would have to bear. In fact, the scene I have just described is similar to the video you will find after the break, where someone in Japan has left a dozen American muscle cars to their fate.
It is a real mystery to know who these vehicles belong to, but there are several theories. To own a car like this in Japan you have to be a millionaire or a member of the Yakuza. In Japan, vehicle taxes are based on engine displacement, and every used vehicle must undergo inspections every two or three years, at a cost of around €2,000, plus a weight tax of about €800 and an annual road tax that can reach €1,000, at current exchange rates. Generally, the “greener” cars benefit from lower purchase taxes, while imported, luxury or collector cars are heavily taxed.
So there may be many reasons why these Camaros, Corvettes or Mustangs end their days under the flag of a country completely opposed to the philosophy under which they were created.

Lo raro es que nadie los compre para repararlos. En EEUU hay un montón de empresas que se dedican exclusivamente a reparar clásicos muscle car. Supongo que la crisis les habrá afectado igual que a todos, pero me parece bastante raro. En fin, una pena.
