Confirmed: the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the fastest four-door saloon around the Nürburgring
The speed record was until now held by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, but it has been comprehensively beaten by the Jaguar XE SV Project 8

A few weeks ago we had the chance to see how the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 was aiming to break the speed record on the demanding Nürburgring circuit, and for that it was carrying out a series of tests on the track. For several weeks it has been running around the Green Hell to get to know the route well and to extract all the performance it is capable of in order to beat that record, which until then was held by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
The Italian saloon managed to lap the circuit in 7 minutes and 32 seconds, a very tight time, so the British car had a serious challenge ahead to beat it. But in the end, the production version of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 managed to cut that time by a full nine seconds, thus becoming the fastest four-door saloon on the market.

This milestone has been achieved thanks to the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, which produces 592 CV, 82 CV more than the rival it had to beat, and its top speed is 321 km/h. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes place in 3.3 seconds, one second less than the Giulia Quadrifoglio QV. In addition, the all-wheel drive of the British model has been fundamental in breaking this record. Everything seemed ready to overtake the Giulia Quadrifoglio QV, but the question was by how much it would manage to do so.

The time achieved by the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 was 7 minutes and 23 seconds, a figure that left the Giulia far behind. The model has been improved by the Special Vehicle Operations department, the brand’s famous SVO, which has succeeded in enhancing every characteristic of the model to the most unexpected limits. It is hand-assembled and is an extremely special vehicle.
So much so that Jaguar has announced that only 300 units of this model will be built, and they will carry a price of around 170,000 euros. A high figure, but one that will allow each driver of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 to get behind the wheel of the fastest car in its range. In the video you can see how the British model reminds Italian and German manufacturers that they do not have a monopoly on high-performance saloons. What do you think?
