CUPRA reaches the one-millionth unit built at the Martorell plant

CUPRA reaches production of its one-millionth unit at the Martorell plant and celebrates it with a raffle for its employees and the success of its models.

Reaching the milestone of one million vehicles built is a significant achievement for a brand of such recent creation. And this is what CUPRA is celebrating this month, the brand born from the well-known SEAT. It was in 2018 that the brand split from its parent company and stopped being the name of a variant of its models to become a brand in its own right. From that moment on, CUPRA became the first brand created within the Volkswagen Group in the 21st century.

The aim of the Volkswagen Group in creating this brand was to offer enthusiasts of performance vehicles above the most popular models an option to enjoy models positioned between those and the premium ones. Cars with outstanding performance and an attractive, dynamic, and more aggressive look. And it worked.

Seven standout models

At present, CUPRA offers seven models that set a distinctive and highly recognizable style. The brand’s lineup was opened by the CUPRA Ateca, the first car developed for the newborn brand and the company’s best-seller. It was followed by the CUPRA Born, an electric SUV that allowed it to enter the electric segment. The CUPRA Tavascan continued along this sustainable mobility line.

The CUPRA Terramar is the sporty SUV, and the CUPRA Raval will soon join the lineup, rounding off, for now, the new models offered by this high-performance brand, though at a lower and more accessible price for all drivers.

The one-millionth CUPRA

Looking at the one-millionth CUPRA, this honor fell to a CUPRA Formentor e-HYBRID. It is finished in Magnetic Tech matte colour and features the traditional shark-nose front end, with CUPRA Matrix LED triangular headlights and the CUPRA logo integrated into the rear light.

Inside, the driver and occupants enjoy a sense of quality in the finishes, with redesigned centre console, door panels, dashboard and seat upholstery. As for the powertrain, this unit features the new generation of plug-in hybrid drivetrains. The plug-in hybrid system is made up of a 1.5 TSI engine and an electric motor powered by a 19.7 kWh battery.

The sum of all this makes it the brand’s most popular car and the best-selling A-CUV in Europe. This model will also be the star of a raffle CUPRA is holding to celebrate this milestone. For three years, the raffle winner will be able to enjoy the use of a CUPRA Formentor e-HYBRID. After that period of use, the unit lent by the brand will become part of CUPRA’s historic car collection.
