Did you think the new BMW X4 changes little? Well, this video will show you that it isn't so.

BMW wanted to demonstrate the differences between the new X4 and the previous generation. To do so, they have turned to this video, which compares both models.

Desvelada la segunda generación del BMW X4, que será presentada en el Salón de Ginebra

Creating a new generation of a product that already works is no easy task, since it requires reinterpreting something new while staying within the established norms. This is the situation BMW has faced with the X4, one of the SUVs that enjoyed great success in its first version, and with the arrival of the second, the German brand aims to match or surpass its predecessor. However, many accuse manufacturers of being unoriginal or repetitive, but BMW has launched this video to address that problem.

In the short film we can see how both generations of the BMW X4 are placed side by side to show the changes that mark the past and the present of the German SUV. The improvement in this new vehicle over its predecessor is substantial, and we can analyse it in detail in the video, yet BMW has known how to enhance the X4’s styling with subtle but striking changes.

The front of the new X4 adopts many elements used across the rest of the German brand’s range, such as the recently presented X2. If we compare the kidney grilles of both generations, we will notice the fresh and modern air the new SUV adopts, something it achieves thanks to more dynamic air intakes, a more prominent grille -accentuated by the two characteristic kidneys– and LED headlights with a much more attractive and innovative design.

In short, we find a more subtle, elegant and sporty X4 than the previous generation, three traits that are also represented at the rear of the aforementioned vehicle. This area presents the most changes and will set the future design of the other vehicles that make up BMW’s SUV range. The first thing that catches the eye is the two long, narrow tail lights, which completely renew the essence of the X4. At the same time, the rear window sits lower, which contributes to the more sporty and dynamic spirit this new model offers.

The interior has not been spared either, since the new X4 is characterised by adopting the innovations used in its saloon sibling, the 5 Series. It is true that the centre console keeps a traditional structure, a feature that gives the German brand sobriety and elegance. The instrument cluster is now digital and the infotainment system offers BMW’s latest technology, such as gesture controls.

The evolution of the X4 is very notable and improves not only its styling, but also its driving dynamics thanks to a more elaborate tuning. Thanks to this video, the German brand can demonstrate the design and aerodynamic work behind a new model, something reflected in the latest products from BMW.
