Mitsubishi Geneva Motor Show SUV
Discover the new compact SUV that Mitsubishi will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show

Earlier this month we already told you about Mitsubishi’s idea of presenting a new compact SUV, a crossover that was initially going to take the XR-PHEV II shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show as its reference. And now we can confirm it: the basis of the project will be this spectacular prototype with angular lines and radical cuts.
The image heading this post belongs to the new SUV that Mitsubishi is preparing and, although it will not reach production with such a radical line from the XR-PHEV II, we can say it bears considerable resemblance to what we can glimpse so far. But even if these are not as radical, Mitsubishi’s new SUV seeks to break away from current coupé-style lines, and it may even set a new direction within Mitsubishi.

As you can see, this car aims to spark a revolution within the Japanese firm, and it also has the privilege of being the first of the next generation of vehicles that Mitsubishi is preparing for the coming three years. This compact SUV, whose name is entirely unknown at this point, is expected to sit on a rung between the Mitsubishi Outlander and the ASX, and to compete directly with the Nissan Qashqai.
For now, Mitsubishi is guarding every detail closely, although we won’t have to wait long to find out more, since the Geneva Motor Show is very close. That said, rumours have been pointing for some time to the possibility that, in addition to turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, it could offer a plug-in hybrid option. These could also be paired with manual and automatic gearboxes, and all-wheel drive could be offered as an option.
That is all we can tell you for the moment while we wait for Mitsubishi to reveal more details and images.
