Do you like SUVs? Well, Seat is going to bring you another model within a few years

It has only been a few weeks since the Seat Ateca reached dealerships. This model is the first SUV the brand has produced, long after the rest of the major manufacturers had added a vehicle to their line-up. But things seem to have gone better than expected and, as Luca de Meo, the CEO of the Spanish company, has confirmed, more models of this type will arrive soon.

The importance of SUVs in today’s markets will also be one of the arguments used to strengthen the brand’s presence, in a year when it has finally seen profits after several years of losses. For de Meo, the picture is clear: the three pillars on which the moves to revive the brand will rest are the Ibiza and León families and the presence of SUVs.

More SUVs from the Spanish brand following the arrival of the Ateca

The aim of Seat is to win a slice of the pie that is currently being shared between the Nissan Juke, the Renault Captur, the Peugeot 2008 and the Opel Mokka. The proposal will be built on the Volkswagen MQB platform of the group. As far as the design style is concerned, this new model would have a lot in common with the new generation of the Ibiza, one of the brand’s most popular models and one that tends to drive its sales.

This decision is precisely due to the popularity this type of vehicle is enjoying, capable of offering the ability to drive over any kind of terrain while keeping all the comfort that should not be missing from a daily-use car. From this perspective, the Ateca has served to enter the segment, perhaps a little late, and the new models proposed can help the brand carve out a space among the other manufacturers, who are already well established in it.

Do you think it is a good idea for Seat to prepare for its entry into this very popular segment?
