Dongfeng will produce vehicles from Peugeot and Jeep for the Chinese market
Stellantis is set to strengthen its alliance with the Chinese state-owned company Dongfeng, though in a different way than was initially anticipated. Rather than producing Dongfeng vehicles in Stellantis’s European plants, the collaboration will focus on producing models from the Jeep and Peugeot brands in Dongfeng’s facilities in China.
Since this past April, there has been talk of existing discussions between the two companies aimed at expanding their collaboration. Initially, speculation centered on the possibility that Stellantis could give Dongfeng access to its European plants with low production volumes, in exchange for the Chinese company producing some of its models for sale in the Chinese market. We now know officially that ultimately, only this latter point will be carried out.

Stellantis has just announced the expansion of its long-standing collaboration with Dongfeng through the creation of the joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DPCA), which will begin producing vehicles from Stellantis’s brands for the Chinese market next year. Initially, two new Peugeot models are planned to roll off the assembly line of a Dongfeng plant in Wuhan.
These two new models will be inspired by the design language of the prototypes Stellantis presented at the recent 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The first of them is the Concept 6, which represents a bold vision of a futuristic saloon. The second, the Concept 8, is a large-sized SUV.

New Jeeps “Made in China” are on the way
Additionally, this new joint venture is also planned to produce two off-road vehicles from the Jeep brand. These two new models will not, however, be sold only in China, but globally as well.
“With more than 30 years of collaboration and shared experience, Stellantis and Dongfeng are prepared to leverage their strengths and launch entirely new vehicles with cutting-edge electric technologies from brands that customers around the world know and appreciate.”
