Donkervoort returns with the 2016 range of the D8 GTO, the Dutch supercar

The Dutch manufacturer has prepared three new versions of the D8 GTO, designed both for driving on roads and streets and for use on circuits around the world, with performance and equipment superior to what we knew until now

This year 2016 has been the year chosen for the return of the Donkervoort D8 GTO, in the form of a new version of this ultralight car with supercar capabilities. The Dutch manufacturer has just unveiled the new range of this model, which will arrive in three different versions, each one superior to the previous. Their names are D8 GTO S, D8 GTO RS and D8 GTO R, which will be the most powerful of all and will be aimed at tracks around the world.

The D8 GTO S is the model that will replace the current one. Although the car has undergone improvements in weight reduction and, consequently, better power-to-weight management, the engine that will power this lightweight car will be the same 2.5-litre block from Audi, which delivers a power output of 367 CV. The roadster will also feature improvements in equipment, materials and engineering, making it a more efficient model.

The Donkervoort D8 GTO also features a version designed for track use

This model will arrive from March and will have a sales price of 115,173 euros, excluding taxes. The next model is the D8 GTO RS. There is no exact information about this version, which will sit above the previous one. We do not know its specifications, nor whether the engine has been tuned to achieve more power and maximum torque.

This version will go on sale in June, although there will be only a limited edition of 40 units, with a price also somewhat higher than the previous model. Finally, the D8 GTO R will be limited to track use, where it will be capable of delivering the best this model can offer. It will also have improved response in terms of safety and capabilities. Its price will be around a quarter of a million euros and it will be ready from the summer.
