DS 3 Performance B.R.M. Chronographes, 39 unique units of pure exclusivity

The French luxury brand DS, owned by Citroën, celebrates the success of its smallest model, the DS 3.

And it does so with a limited edition called Performance B.R.M. Chronographes, a highly exclusive variant with unique features.

The current DS range consists of three models, the DS 3, the DS 4 and the DS 5. The youngest, the DS 3, is built on the platform of the current – and second – generation of the C3, the city car from the chevron brand. However, its look is completely different from the C3, showing a more premium, more refined character.

The DS 3 has proven to be a genuine sales success, with more than 390,000 units sold worldwide so far. Although the best-selling versions are diesel and its most promoted aspect is its chic and premium image, its range also makes room for sportier options, such as the Performance.

Taking advantage of the performance setup of this version, the French brand has teamed up with French luxury watchmaker B.R.M. Chronographes, giving rise to an ultra-exclusive edition of just 39 units, only 2 of which will be allocated to Spain. This number, which at first glance is not even a round figure, is the result of building one unit for every 10,000 DS 3s sold to date.

This limited series has a starting price in Spain of 34,100 euros

Aesthetically, this limited edition is distinguished from any other DS 3 thanks to its Gold Pearl matte body colour. The roof is painted in gloss black, and the DS Wings in Hematite Grey. Inside, the exclusive decoration is found on the Gold Pearl dashboard panel, matching the exterior paint, as well as the carbon pack and the aluminium identification plate with the unit’s number.

The equipment is very extensive, as it includes all the extras that the DS 3 can be fitted with. Highlights include the 7″ touchscreen with navigation and Mirror Screen, the Hi-Fi sound system, the Active City Brake emergency braking system and front and rear parking sensors.

Mechanically, this edition has no variation compared with a “standard” DS 3 Performance, and it fits the same 1.6 THP with 208 CV and 300 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox with a Torsen-type limited-slip differential. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

As a curious note, when purchasing this exclusive model the price includes a wristwatch specifically built for the occasion, called “BRMV6 44 SA SQ DS 3 PERFORMANCE”, with an estimated value of 4,000 euros. Without a doubt, a good opportunity for exclusivity lovers.
