Family Drag Race: BMW M3 E30 VS E46 VS E92 VS F80
Today we bring you this curious video, in which we can see a family showdown in action, in the form of a Drag Race, between some of the most iconic vehicles from BMW.
The BMW M3 has been on the market for more than 30 years and, despite all the significant changes that have taken place up to the current generation, they have always been considered an absolute delight to drive. With the exception, perhaps, of the E36…

Obviously, the results of this family Drag Race are obvious, since, as the years go by, power increases, materials improve, and technology keeps pace. But, thanks to this video, we can see whether there is a gulf as huge as the one you are all imagining.
Before we get to the conclusions, below we leave you the video so that you can enjoy it:

It comes as no surprise that the E30 finished last, and that the F80 CS was the clear winner, followed by the E90 GTS and the E46 CSL in both races. If that hadn’t been the case, it wouldn’t have made much sense.
The original M3’s 4-cylinder engine gave way to the evolution of the 6-cylinder in the next two generations, until the E90 finally switched to the V8. The current F80, however, once again features an inline six-cylinder engine, aided by two turbos.
That said, we all know that the M3 was never conceived to become a muscle car; in other words, its main virtue does not lie in straight-line speed, since, after all, and let’s not kid ourselves, we could consider that the least entertaining part of dynamic driving.
The rear-wheel drive of BMW models is absolutely legendary, and for many, the main incentive to justify buying one, with drifting being one of the driving techniques with the most fans among enthusiasts.
If you had to choose one of these models, which one would you go for?
