Both the Ferrari Enzo and the Maserati MC12 share the same naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12. The Ferrari Enzo and the Maserati MC12 are two of the finest supercars of the 21st century but, do you know which is the fastest? As you have probably guessed, the Ferrari Enzo was unveiled in 2002 as the last road car from the Prancing Horse brand and a couple of years later, Maserati presented the MC12.

The Maserati is built on the same chassis as the Enzo and uses the same powertrain, but adopts a design that is possibly even more extravagant. At the heart of both supercars sits a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12. In the Enzo, it produces 651 CV at 7,800 rpm and 657 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, while in the MC12 it delivers 621 CV at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 652 Nm.

The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles recently had the opportunity to drive both and put them to the test in a series of endurance races.

To compete with the two and probably in an attempt to ensure their mechanicals would not be damaged, they were not launched hard from the starting line. Instead, the races were conducted from a rolling start at 32 km/h.

Which is better, the Ferrari Enzo or the Maserati MC12?

Neither the Enzo’s nor the MC12’s times were particularly impressive. In fact, the Enzo needed 12.83 seconds to complete the course in the first race while the MC12 recorded a time of 14.46 seconds. These times came despite the rolling start, which indicates that the drivers were taking it easy.

So, while the results are not really representative of what these two Italian supercars can do, just seeing them race together on a circuit is a feast for the eyes. Don’t you agree?
