Ferrari shows the F70's monocoque chassis

Ferrari gives an update on its F70 with the unveiling of the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis it will use. It is expected to arrive at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013.

The wait goes on and it seems it will never end. From time to time Ferrari drops some information about the Enzo’s successor, but so far we have nothing, only conjecture about its engine or engines.

Apparently Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has decided to brighten our morning by showing a video of the manufacturing process of the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, based entirely on Formula 1, that the F70 will use, the most powerful and best supercar ever built by Maranello’s factory.

Former Scuderia technical director Ferrari Rory Byrne said the car will use the most advanced carbon-fibre technology and adopt a series of weight-saving measures to improve performance. One of the new F70’s innovations will be the integration of the front suspension into the chassis, together with the protection of the fuel tanks, seat structure and battery compartment. With these measures the final car could come close to 1,100 kg in weight.

With this statement of intent, I deduce that the Prancing Horse brand will present its star model at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show to offer it on the market a few months later. If you want to get hold of one, I recommend you start talking to the brand to reserve yours, they’re sure to fly off the shelves, though not because of their price.
