Fiat 126 with a Yamaha R1 engine

After so long without seeing a Fiat 126, we came across this one that has surfaced from the World Wide Web. A typical example of small cars powered by motorcycle engines, although first there are some interesting things to say about the 126 itself.
The Fiat 126 was the successor to the Fiat 500 saga, presented in 1972. It was a car that followed the same size philosophy as the 500, as well as the rear-mounted engine layout. Although production of the 126 continued until the late 1970s, in Poland the model stayed in production with such success that it literally became the “people’s car” of Poland, the maluch.

With the obligatory introduction out of the way, let’s move on to the present day, to Sweden. The 126 was the perfect car for a project like this one, where motorcycle engines take the leading role. One of these engines is the Yamaha R1 engine, which produces 180 hp at 12,500 RPM and nearly 300 km/h of top speed.
With such a machine in the engine bay of the small 126, the result could not be better than what you can see in the images, with chassis reinforcements and much wider tyres to keep the little beast the 126 has become planted on the asphalt.
Here we leave you a gallery of the car and a video that says it all. And I’ve even been tempted to look for a motorcycle engine and a car similar to the 126 to carry out some crazy experiments.
