Fiat celebrates the anniversary of its iconic Fiat 500

This is not a specific anniversary, the kind that rounds off a special date, but having been on the market for more than 50 years already makes every year a true celebration that any brand would want to mark. The Fiat 500 was born on July 4, 1957, and that is why this day was chosen to showcase everything this iconic city car has achieved over its commercial life.
The generation driving through our cities today began production in Poland in 2007, and since 2010 it has had a production site in Mexico, going on sale in 100 countries. Not a bad result for a car that was born as a popular model for the less affluent classes.
In its segment, the Fiat 500 has achieved very positive results over the years and was even named “Car of the Year 2008”. It also became the first city car to earn five stars in Euro NCAP. It has also incorporated features once reserved for higher-end cars and comes with seven airbags as standard.
There is currently a wide variety of versions of this iconic car, which have appeared over the last few years to meet buyers’ demands. These are the options you can find on the streets and at the brand’s dealerships: 500 Abarth (March 2008), 500 by Diesel (September 2008), 500 Pink (June 2009), 500C (July 2009), 500C Abarth (March 2010), 500C by Diesel (June 2010), 500 TwinAir (July 2010), 500 Matt Black (September 2010), 500 two-tone (December 2010), 500 and 500C by Gucci (April and August 2011 respectively), 500 America Limited Edition (February 2012), 500S and 500 Color Therapy (December 2012) and the 500 GQ (June 2013).
This year the ever-growing family of the Fiat 500 welcomed the 500 Cult, from March onward. With all these attractions, the brand has decided to celebrate the occasion in style and has launched a campaign called #500happypeople, in which groups of people in Madrid who embody happiness and the desire to live have been photographed.
This can be seen on the Fiat 500’s Facebook page, but it is not the only action planned. The pedestrian crossings of the Pleninunio and Zielo shopping centres in Madrid will be painted with candles, and a group of hostesses will tour the streets of Madrid to crown every Fiat 500 they come across as the true kings of its birthday.
