A few weeks ago, news broke that the taxi world was unhappy with the UBER app, which makes urban transport easier, and now we are discovering that there are many more ways to save on getting around the city. Besides the many apps that have emerged over recent months, there is also carsharing, in other words, a way of sharing the same car among several users.

For some time now, a company in Seville has been offering an hourly car rental service, designed for short trips around the city for individuals and businesses. Around 40 users share the same car, which reduces costs and allows the same vehicle to be used by several people throughout the day.

Now, Bluemove, the company from Seville, has reached an agreement with Kia to source vehicles for its fleet and serve the 2,000 users it has in the Andalusian capital. The vehicles are designed for use in the city, so there are both petrol and electric models, which are more practical on the streets of Seville.

With the agreement signed with AUSSA (Aparcamientos Urbanos de Sevilla S.A.), the company has managed to have part of the 30 vehicles in its fleet parked in outdoor car parks in the streets of the Centro and Nervión districts. In this way, they can be more accessible to their users, who will benefit from this system for sharing a car.

It is a good way to avoid spending more than necessary on a car if you are not going to use it much. In cities, public transport, the bicycle or the various cost-sharing systems are usually used for occasional trips. It is a good measure that is gradually catching on in order to improve traffic in Spanish cities.

Bluemove also operates in Madrid, so between the two major cities it has 7,000 members who enjoy this particular way of getting around. Kia has become fully involved in the project of two young Spanish entrepreneurs and shows that good ideas can make their way onto the agenda of large companies.
