Fiat-Freemont-Cross-4

The Cross version of the Fiat Freemont is another alternative within the range. Space and practicality for everyday use or for enjoying leisure time with the family: this model brings all of these qualities together in a single vehicle.

Exterior and interior details reveal the new look of the Fiat Freemont Cross. A new front bumper with Platinum Chrome inserts, the grille and the surrounds of the fog lights in gloss black, as well as the darkened interior trims on the front headlights.

On the sides, the sill panels are in Platinum Chrome and the roof is fitted with roof bars in the same colour. At the rear, the light clusters follow the same design, with darkened frames on the front ones as well. The lower part of the rear bumper includes an insert in Platinum Chrome. The new alloy wheels have five polished spokes in “Hyper Black” and measure 19 inches.

With all the new exterior features, its rugged character is apparent at first glance, along with an elegant, distinctive touch and a combination of flexibility and functionality.

Inside, there are 7 seats, various seat configurations, 25 storage compartments and a boot with a maximum capacity of 1,500 litres with the third and second rows folded down (540 litres in the 5-seat configuration and 145 litres in the 7-seat configuration), combining all the strengths of an SUV with the versatility of an estate.

On the inside, the Fiat Freemont Cross features unique details. The new black leather seats have sporty trim and stitching in matching light slate grey, which is also found on the centre armrest and the door panels. Liquid Graphite finishes adorn the dashboard, the instruments, the centre console, the door panels and the steering wheel. The interior equipment is completed by the leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, both standard.

The new Cross version is available with the 140 hp 2.0 Multijet II engine, which is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive 4×2, and the 170 hp 2.0 MultiJet II which can be fitted with either front-wheel drive 4×2 or active all-wheel drive AWD, the latter paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Navigation system and 8.4-inch touchscreen, DVD player and SD card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking camera and Premium Alpine sound system with 6 speakers, driver’s seat with 10-way electric adjustment, fully folding front passenger seat with a storage compartment underneath and, finally, standard features also include electric, heated and folding external mirrors, six airbags, illuminated cup holders, Keyless Entry and Keyless Go with push-button start, and audio and cruise controls on the steering wheel.

The “on demand” active all-wheel drive AWD fitted to the Freemont Cross has an electronic control unit that uses sensors to detect grip at all four wheels. It acts on slippery surfaces such as mud, snow or ice, providing greater traction and, under normal conditions, an additional safety margin.

Rear-wheel drive is also engaged on dry roads, at speeds between 40 and 100 km/h, improving handling and making it easier to take bends with more neutral behaviour.

The Fiat Freemont Cross will go on sale from autumn 2014.
