The good news keeps coming for the Spanish automotive industry. Now it is the turn of Ford, which has announced the arrival of several models on the production line at the Almussafes plant in Valencia.

Ford Europe will produce the new generations of the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy in our country. Up to 3 new models that ensure the continuity of the Spanish factory, excellent news for one of the strongest industrial sectors on the national scene.

The next generation of the Ford Mondeo will begin production at the end of 2014, meaning four models at once will roll off the assembly lines. We do not yet have confirmation of the start date for production of the S-Max and Galaxy, although the brand will provide more details soon. In all likelihood, the plant’s workforce will grow, which means the number of jobs in the supplier industry will also expand.

At present, the Almussafes plant produces the C-Max and, exclusively for the global market, the second generation of the Kuga. In addition, in September of this year, production of the Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect will begin. All these figures combined mean the plant’s output will increase by 80% compared with last year, reaching 230,000 units in 2013 and 300,000 (forecast).

This news represents a new vote of confidence in Spanish factories, after in recent days Opel announced that the Mokka will begin to be manufactured at the plant the company has in Figueruelas, Zaragoza.
