Ford at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show

We continue little by little covering the Geneva Motor Show, and now it is time to focus on the American brand Ford. As it had announced to us a few months ago, Ford continues with its idea of globalising its models so that they can be sold in most markets with hardly any modification.
As the main novelties, at Ford we find the EcoSport and the Tourneo range. Without a doubt, the Ford EcoSport will reach the market to compete in the compact crossover segment, where it will face other models presented at the Geneva Motor Show such as the Peugeot 2008 or the Renault Captur.
The Ford EcoSport will reach the dealer network at the end of this same year with a range of engines that will seek to be among the most efficient on the market. Thus, within the petrol range it will offer the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine with 125 CV of power or the 1.5-litre with 110 CV. For its part, among the diesels the 1.5 with 90 CV stands out, which from Ford they hope will offer class-leading fuel efficiency.
The oval brand is making a strong bet on the SUV and compact SUV market, since the EcoSport is to be joined by the launch early next year of the Kuga. This is justified because, according to their estimates, the SUV market in Europe will grow by 30 percent in 2013, and sales of this type of model will represent 10% of Ford’s total sales.

The other major novelty lies in the Tourneo range, which includes the Tourneo Courier, going on sale from mid-next year. It is designed for families and offers space with great flexibility and liveability. It will include the brand’s most efficient engines and the SYNC connectivity system.
The latest from Ford in Geneva is its confirmation of its commitment to EcoBoost engines, since between 2013 and 2015 they expect to increase production of this engine by 35%, and for this year one in every four models from Ford will be sold with the award-winning 1.0 EcoBoost.
