Ford Focus ST and RS 2018: this is how the sporty compacts could look
A graphic designer shows us what the new Ford Focus could look like in its sportiest versions: ST and RS.
The new Ford Focus has already been unveiled, but two very hot versions of the American hatchback are still to come: the Focus ST and the Focus RS. Fortunately, several digital retouching specialists have given us an early look at what these two versions could look like when they hit the market around 2020.
Ford Focus ST 2018

Nothing is official yet, but rumour has it that the next Focus ST will feature a turbocharged 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 275 CV. In addition, the engine is expected to reduce its consumption thanks to a selective cylinder deactivation system similar to the one in the new Ford Fiesta ST. Nor can we rule out the new Focus ST offering some diesel engine based on the new Ford EcoBlue engine.
Ford Focus RS 2018

Everything suggests the new Focus RS will be a hybrid. Seeing is believing! But there’s a catch: the 2.3-litre Ecoboost petrol engine will be accompanied by a small electric motor that will simply serve as support to save fuel.

We don’t yet know the performance this engine will offer, but rumours point to around 400 CV and 576 Nm of maximum torque. The dual-clutch automatic gearbox could be the only transmission option, and the innovative all-wheel-drive system fitted to the current Focus RS will remain present in this new generation.
