Ford has it clear: if we want high profits, we have to offer what people are asking for. With this thinking, the blue-oval brand is rolling out the ST-Line range across many of its models, having already introduced the Fiesta and Focus ST-Line as well as the new Ford Mondeo ST-Line.

And it is that many of today’s buyers, especially people under 40, want a practical, comfortable and efficient car that at the same time projects a dynamic image, as if it were a more performance-oriented model. To define it clearly, a sportiness that exists only in the eyes.

In this way, Ford decided to carry out sportier styling add-ons on several models in its range. On the other hand, the high demand for crossover models, the segment that is growing fastest on the old continent, helped the brand dare to adopt this sportier image on the Ford Kuga ST-Line we present today; although it is not the only “different” variant of this SUV we have seen in just a few weeks, bearing in mind that not long ago they presented the Ford Kuga Vignale, which receives a high dose of elegance.

The ST-Line’s styling variants compared with a Kuga in a conventional trim arrive with new gloss black front grilles, honeycomb-style shapes in the lower air intake and in the styling details that appear next to the fog lights, new alloy wheels finished in black, available in 18 and 19 inches, more pronounced sill and wheel-arch trims, black-painted roof bars and a rear spoiler.

In the interior there is a slightly distinctive look with a generous level of equipment, including seats upholstered in leather, contrast-colour stitching on the steering wheel and gear-lever gaiter, and black roof upholstery.

Dynamically there are differences, though not many. The Ford Kuga ST-Line comes with a suspension that improves its stability slightly thanks to thicker anti-roll bars and a body height 10 mm lower, which reduces this SUV’s centre of gravity. Springs and dampers have been revised and tuned, as has the steering assistance which, according to Ford, offers a more sporty feel in this version.

As for the engines, it is available with the TDCI diesels of 120, 150 and 180 hp, plus the EcoBoost petrol units of 120, 150 and 182 hp. The two most powerful versions are offered with intelligent all-wheel drive.

It also has a wide range of equipment and driver-assistance systems, which increase the vehicle’s active and passive safety. The infotainment system is of the new generation, the SYNC 3.
