Ford Mustang 1960: the electric version of the American sports car
British tuner Charge Automotive has fitted electric batteries to the Ford Mustang 1960, capable of producing up to 400 CV of power.
The electric version of the Ford Mustang 1960 will see the light thanks to Charge Automotive’s conversion work together with Arrival’s technology. The British company will build only 499 units of this model for the market on a reservation basis, in September 2019. The price of the electric sports car will be approximately 229,000 euros.

In addition, Charge Automotive will carry out an international tour for test drives of this electric version from March to September of next year. The destinations chosen are the United States (New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco), Europe (London, Munich, Paris and Milan), Abu Dhabi and Asia (Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai).
High performance with zero emissions
The power unit produces 400 CV and 1,200 Nm of torque, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Likewise, the battery fitted to this sports car has a capacity of 64 kWh and can be charged using a 50 kW direct current. As for its range, the Ford Mustang 1960 EV reaches up to 200 kilometres.

Charge Automotive’s conversion lets the user choose between three driving modes: Eco, Sport and Ultimate. In addition, this version features four-wheel drive. However, should customers want it, they will also be able to request a configuration with rear-wheel drive only.
Finally, this electric edition of the Ford Mustang 1960 features three different types of suspension: Lower, Ride and Raise. These options can be automatically customised according to each driver’s preferences.
High-end driving
The company’s idea is to “redefine” this classic vehicle with “advanced electric technology”. Although built by Charge Automotive, the bodywork holds the official licence of Ford, maintaining the essence of the 1960s Mustang. The vehicle format we can select will be either in fastback, its original model, or convertible.

As for the interior, the design chosen by the British tuners conforms to current aesthetics. Despite respecting the original bodywork, it features modern elements such as a touchscreen to personalise each user’s driving. In addition, the information the vehicle relays to us is digital. A perfect blend of respect for the tradition of the 1960s Mustang and the modernity of digital systems.
