Ford Shelby F-150: the 700 CV pick-up arrives at the Chicago Auto Show

The monstrous version of the most famous pick-up from Ford is on display at the Chicago Auto Show.

The Ford Raptor is a very popular pick-up around the world, but for those who find its 400 CV turbocharged V8 engine a bit underwhelming, there is a new version that will leave them glued to their seats. It is the Shelby F-150, which will be on display at the Chicago Auto Show and will boast a whopping 700 CV of power.

This monstrous pick-up was first revealed last year at the SEMA show and, although it may sound like science fiction, it is on sale at official dealerships Ford in the United States. This model is based on the standard Ford F-150 but uses an optimised suspension. Its damping is designed to allow drivers to “make adjustments aimed at achieving more precise driving performance on any terrain”, according to Ford. The exterior of this vehicle receives a series of design details that make it an even more aggressive and imposing pick-up than the standard version. Among these elements, for example, are the 18-inch wheels, the BF Goodrich off-road tyres and the Shelby badges placed on various parts of the vehicle. But perhaps the most striking thing about this Ford F-150 is its impressive engine. This pick-up features a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged unit that delivers 700 CV of power, no small feat. The price of this version is $99,000; however, there is the option of purchasing the Shelby F-150 with the standard 400 CV engine for $85,000, although getting 300 CV more for an additional $13,500 does not seem like a bad deal. The Shelby F-150 has been made possible thanks to the joint venture established between the oval-badged brand and the company Tuscany Motor. The company, which specialises in manufacturing pick-ups, builds this model at its plant in Elkhart (Indiana, USA).
