Ford starts offering the four-cylinder Ecoboost in the Explorer and Edge in North America

Ford has started offering four-cylinder Ecoboost engine variants for the Explorer and the Ford Edge, as an option within the range available for these models, although the V6 engines will not be discontinued for now.
The success of the Ecoboost V6 variant has revived sales of six-cylinder engines for the F-150 pick-up, and the Explorer and Edge (the former is a key model for the brand) are expected to make the transition to the Ecoboost as smoothly as possible, that is, outselling the V6 versions.
In Europe the Ecoboost engines are already well established, and we have even considered a Fiesta with Ecoboost of three cylinders and an eight-speed gearbox.
For the Explorer and Edge, the two-liter Ecoboost will be used, with displacement, direct injection, turbo and 240 hp. In practice, for the Explorer and Edge, slightly less power than what their V6s currently offer.
