Ford Transit Custom Nugget 2020, advanced technology in a camper van

Going camping doesn’t mean giving up all the technology the automotive industry has to offer. And to avoid what the British and Americans call FOMO (Fear of missing out), the technology is on board the Ford Transit Custom Nugget 2020, the latest camper conversion of the popular van from Ford.

To start with, this new Ford Transit Custom Nugget 2020 features a wifi router capable of serving up to 10 devices simultaneously. The router’s range is 15 meters, which is enough to provide a good service that keeps all passengers connected even if they move a little away from the van.

This camper van model has a pop-up roof that houses the sleeping area, leaving the lower section for a kitchen and dining area, as well as a living room on the lower level. Occupants can enjoy an additional climate control system in this area, a gas stove with two burners, a sink, a 40-litre fridge and two water tanks, one for drinking water and one for waste water. In addition, there is an outdoor shower.

As for the engine, the Ford Transit Custom Nugget is equipped with a 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine producing 185 CV, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or automatic gearbox. A version of the same engine producing 130 CV is also available, offering up to 7% lower fuel consumption than the previous one.

To drive safely over any terrain, the camper van offers driver assistance systems such as blind spot information in the mirrors, active parking assist, lane keeping alert and adaptive cruise control. Added to all this is the SYNC 3 information and entertainment system, to which a premium sound system and bike and sports equipment carriers can be added.

The price of the Ford Transit Custom Nugget 2020 starts at 64,210 euros in the United Kingdom, the first market to receive this model after its presentation at the Motorhome and Caravan Show in Birmingham. It will later be sold in other European countries, so we won’t have to wait long to see it on the Spanish mountain roads.
