From past to present: this video shows us what some of the most iconic models would look like today

This video takes us from the past to the present, as it shows us what some of the most iconic vehicles would look like today.

Surely many of us have wished that several vehicles of the past could rise from their ashes, since they marked a before and after. Unfortunately, many companies have decided to reject the continuation of these models and leave them to be forgotten, but today we have a very special video. In it, we can see how certain reinterpretations of some of the most iconic models of all time have been created, adapted to today’s design and technology. In this way, we can virtually bring back to life cars like the Renault Fuego or the Citroën 2CV.

Several vehicles are the stars of this video and, for the most part, all of them have a historical past worthy of admiration. In this way we can get a fairly realistic idea of what their corresponding contemporary variants would look like, some of them being quite faithful to the brands’ current design standards.

Renault 4

The Renault 4 is presented as one of the most acclaimed models from the French manufacturer, which was born in 1961 and remained in production until 1994. During that period, the Renault supermini had enough time to become a real success and one of the best-selling models in the brand’s history. However, many car enthusiasts miss this charismatic vehicle, but today we bring you the solution.

The 50th birthday of the popularly known “cuatro latas” (four cans) was reason enough to hold a design competition. The final result can be seen in the video, where the classic aesthetics of the Renault 4 are masterfully combined with modern, current components, such as the headlights, rear lights and wheels.

For now, the diamond brand has no plans to produce this recreation, but who knows whether, in the not-too-distant future, they might turn to this concept car to breathe new life into the Renault 4. In the meantime, we can enjoy the great subtlety of this recreation, which strikes a perfect balance between what the French model meant in its time and the features of today’s vehicles.

Citroën 2CV

As with other models like the one mentioned above, Citroën also had several models over its lifetime that made history, such as the 2CV. This iconic model was born in 1948 and remained in production until 1990, a long life that allowed the 2CV to not only occupy the garage of countless families, but also steal thousands of smiles from its drivers.

That is why it is one of the most longed-for vehicles of all time but, just as with the Renault 4, someone has taken the liberty of bringing a modern version of the Citroën 2CV to life. In this reinterpretation we can see hundreds of features in common with modern models from the brand of the double chevrons but, in the end, we can still appreciate the charismatic essence of the 2CV.

This model will go down as one of the most acclaimed in motoring history and, although it may one day rise from its ashes, the first generation will always be the most remembered. This is due to its long life and the great mark it left not only on the automotive world, but on the lives of thousands of people.

Renault Fuego

For a long time, Renault was responsible for offering the world a range of models with very sporty performance, among which we should highlight the Fuego. It was born in 1980 and was on sale for twelve years, during which it became one of the sportiest models from the French firm, but some enthusiasts have not been able to forget it and have done their part to bring it back to life.

It was a sporty variant of the Renault 18, which managed to develop up to 123 CV of power from a 2.2-litre engine. We can see that this model has been given the same treatment and, after two young designers took the BMW i8 as the basis for shaping the current Renault Fuego, we find a curious concept car that is at once futuristic.

The list of vehicles proposed for revival would surely be very long but, little by little, several companies are daring to bring back some iconic vehicles. In this situation we find BMW with the 8 Series, Alpine with the A110, or Toyota with the Supra, three models that were responsible for marking a before and after, just like those mentioned in the video.
