The new Peugeot Rifter goes on sale in Spain from 17,800 euros
The new PSA Group vans are gradually arriving in our market, and now it’s the turn of the Rifter, completely renewed in both its styling and its name

Little by little, the PSA Group’s commercial vehicle range is putting its renewal into effect after being unveiled at the start of the year, specifically in the case of the small vans. The first to go on sale has been the Citroën Berlingo, which also came with a special launch edition, and it will now be followed by the new Peugeot Rifter on the Spanish market, and later the new Opel Combo, which we will have to welcome.
The new Peugeot Rifter, like its sister models in the group, was also announced at the beginning of 2018 and, design changes aside, its most important novelty was the change of name. The Rifter is the successor to the Partner (which is still on sale), but for this new generation Peugeot was looking for a van more oriented towards leisure, a new direction that begins with a new name evoking outdoor activities, hence the Rifter.

Externally, the new Peugeot Rifter changes radically compared to its predecessor, now adopting an image that is closer to the range of passenger cars from Peugeot. To achieve this, it features the lion brand’s signature identity seen in its latest models: the grille design with a vertical structure, combined with a new LED light cluster and new bumpers. At the rear, the brand’s own stamp has also been applied with the light cluster, drawing three lines like claws across its design, on both sides of the characteristic tailgate of Peugeot vans. It is worth noting that there will be a GT Line version, which brings out a sportier image and character.
It will use the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform, which offers the possibility to choose the 5-seat or 7-seat version, in short or long wheelbase, the latter with an increase of 35 centimetres in total length. Even so, the Peugeot Rifter will offer a generous load capacity, as befits a good van, reaching 775 litres in the 5-seat version with the load floor extended, a capacity that can rise to 4,000 litres if the seats are folded down in the long version.

Inside, as with all Peugeot models, the i-Cockpit plays an important role in enabling intuitive and relaxed driving, thanks to the instrument panel positioned higher up for better visibility, a compact steering wheel and an 8-inch touchscreen oriented towards the driver. The i-Cockpit blends perfectly with a much more refined new design, closer to what we would see in any passenger car and quite far from the austerity and simplicity that usually reign in vans.
But simple, basic design is no longer something of the past in vans, and the Peugeot Rifter will come with extensive equipment that has nothing to envy from any passenger car. This, logically, will vary depending on the version chosen (Access, Active, Allure and GT Line), but even so we will have elements as interesting as:
- Electric parking brake.
- Active cruise control.
- Speed limit recognition.
- Active lane departure warning.
- Driver attention alert.
- Active Safety Brake.
- Trailer stability control.
- Grip Control.
- Automatic high and low beam headlights.
- Visiopark 180º reversing camera.
- Blind spot monitoring system.
- Hands-free access and start.
- Two USB ports and Mirror Screen, compatible with Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- 3D navigation with real-time information from TomTom Traffic.

In terms of mechanics, the new Peugeot Rifter will first of all come with two petrol engines: the PureTech 130 S&S with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the PureTech 110 S&S with a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the diesel side there are three engines: the BlueHDi 130 S&S with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox; the BlueHDi 100 with a 5-speed manual gearbox and optional low-consumption S&S; and the BlueHDi 75, available only with the 5-speed manual gearbox.
The range of the new Peugeot Rifter can already be configured to each buyer’s taste on the brand’s website, now also available for Spain, with a starting base price set at 17,800 euros.
