Full stop: the 50 Volkswagen Golf R Unlimited have already sold out

Volkswagen has just announced that all 50 units of the Golf R Unlimited have already sold out, which had a starting price of 53,900 euros.

The world of performance compacts is booming in today’s market, where their performance and comfort make them truly versatile vehicles, but they can also be exclusive. Volkswagen wanted to highlight this side of its Golf R with the special Unlimited edition, of which only 50 units were to be produced. After the German brand revealed the features of this new and exclusive version, today it tells us that every single one of the 50 units has already been sold, which could signal the end of this seventh generation of the Golf R.

This special edition highlights the most sporting traits of the German compact, making it stand out from the competition. Although the mechanical side has not undergone any changes, various aesthetic components have, which give the Volkswagen Golf R Unlimited a unique touch.

The web page launched by Volkswagen was the means through which one of the 50 units of the German compact could be reserved. With 7,000 daily visits since its announcement, the Golf R Unlimited caused a stir among enthusiasts, but only a few were able to get one. Now it will only be possible to acquire one in the future on the second-hand market, a place where its value will surely rise considerably.

Let’s recall that the main changes in this special edition affect the standard equipment and various aesthetic elements. The first thing that catches the eye is the matte grey vinyl that covers the Golf R’s bodywork, a shade that contrasts perfectly with the 19-inch Pretoria Black alloy wheels. At the same time, the wing mirrors, the spoiler and certain details of the bumper also feature that gloss black finish.

As for the standard equipment of the Golf R Unlimited, it includes the Akrapovič titanium sports exhaust, the DCC adaptive chassis and the DYNAUDIO sound system, among others. In terms of mechanics, it still uses the same 2.0-litre TSI engine capable of producing 310 CV of power and 380 Nm of torque, which is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Every single one of the 50 units of the Volkswagen Golf R Unlimited has been sold, each of which had a starting price of 53,900 euros. Following this, the German brand can close the life cycle of the seventh-generation Golf with a grand tribute, thus paving the way for the eighth generation, of which many details are still unknown.
