Genesis builds a GV60 for snow navigation in mountain rescues

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, an electric vehicle designed for high-mountain rescues has been presented, equipped with tracks for better mobility.

Car manufacturers not only prepare vehicles for everyday use, but also offer special vehicles to fulfil special services. Genesis is the brand that belongs to the Hyundai group and is dedicated to building the group’s premium cars. One of those cars is the GV60, which has served as the basis for the GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle Concept.

This concept model has been presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos and is designed to serve in high mountains or in places where accidents can occur and people need to be rescued. To do so, the wheels have been replaced with traction tracks, so it can move freely across snow and get through the most difficult terrain.

To make this change, the suspension system had to be modified so that it can support this new element. And the suspension is not the only thing that has been changed: other elements have been added to help it move across all that difficult terrain.

The changes include carbon fibre mudguards and the installation of protective plates at the front and rear. More LED lights have also been added at the front and a light bar on the roof rack, which has been designed for this version of the model.

Inside, sports seats have been fitted, and the vehicle has been equipped with all the emergency and medical equipment needed to provide the best rescue service at any time. One of the advantages of this electric model is that its battery can be used to power external devices that can be very useful in these circumstances.

Like the model that Genesis presented at Davos last year, the X Snow Speedium Concept, which was based on the X Speedium Concept, will not go into production. Instead, it aims to showcase all the capabilities of the GV60, which can operate in extreme conditions and over very challenging terrain.
