Genesis G80 Sport, the luxury saloon with a spicy twist

Genesis, the premium car manufacturer, has shown us the first images of its new G80 Sport. A version based on the current conventional Genesis G80 that we already knew, but which in this version brings new features for those looking for a more aggressive look.

The star of this design is the evolution of the so-called “Athletic Elegance”, the design language of Genesis, which on this occasion features both interior and exterior elements to show the brand’s boldest side, with the G80 as the main player in this case.

Design of the G80 Sport

The front of the G80 Sport has several elements that set this version apart from the conventional one. The most eye-catching is its new grille, which is finished in a dark chrome colour and covers much of the saloon’s front end.

A new bumper has also been fitted, which embraces the huge engine bay air intake with sharp shapes that give it a much more sporty character than the standard G80. To complete the front, the bezels surrounding the headlights of this G80 have also been painted black, which complement the dark colour of the grille very well.

The side profile still shows that classic, elegant image that characterises this saloon, although with small details such as chrome mouldings in the same tone as those found on the dark chrome front.

In addition, alloy wheels in 20 inches exclusive to this version have been fitted, which can be accompanied by black or red brake calipers, depending on each customer’s preference.

To finish off its exterior design, the rear of this G80 Sport features a new bumper and a new diffuser design that houses the two chrome exhaust outlets. As would be expected, the mouldings on this rear section have also been painted dark chrome to match the rest of the car.

The cabin, like any premium saloon, is one of the G80 Sport’s strong points. An interior with high-quality finishes that offers a great atmosphere of luxury and comfort, but in this case with that spicy touch that characterises this Sport version.

When we sit down, we will notice the new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel designed specifically for this model. Genesis also offers three finishes available for the dashboard: carbon fibre, aluminium or a new diamond pattern.

Its seats feature upholstery with the same diamond pattern that can be fitted to the dashboard, available in grey, black or red.

Not everything is about looks

As the icing on the cake, Genesis has confirmed that this G80 Sport will feature the RWS system, which turns the rear wheels to aid stability and agility when driving.

We don’t yet have a date for its arrival at dealerships, but we do know that during summer 2021 Genesis will share more details about this G80 Sport.
