Genesis takes on the desert with its X Skorpio Concept prototype
The Genesis X Skorpion Concept concept car aims to take on the world’s most demanding deserts with impressive equipment and an imposing look.

Concept cars bring to the real world vehicles designed to surprise, but also to turn technological and mechanical innovations into something practical that can be used in the models on the market. Other times, they become cars we want to see in action and get the chance to drive. The Genesis X Skorpio Concept is the latest prototype from the Korean brand, and it has surprised us.
It is an extreme off-roader capable of tackling the most demanding terrain without losing its style. It debuted in the Empty Quarter desert, in Saudi Arabia, alongside units of the GV60, GV70 and GV80 equipped for desert driving.

Desert-inspired design
The concept car takes its inspiration from a black scorpion and conveys all the strength and power of this desert creature. It is built on a tubular chassis and fitted with a competition-spec roll cage that protects the occupants. At the front it features LED lighting that extends along the sides and is also present at the rear.

The body panels are made from a combination of carbon fiber, fiberglass and Kevlar, materials chosen for their strength and durability. The black version that was shown is especially striking, a machine that makes an impression from its very look.
The 18-inch wheels are fitted with 40-inch all-terrain tires. One detail we are missing is the ground clearance, but we know it is perfectly capable of crossing any dune in its path.
Powertrain
This concept is not just a showpiece. It is equipped with a V8 engine producing 1,100 CV and a maximum torque of 1,152 Nm. It is expected to feature a hybrid setup and could also be fitted with a turbocharger.
