Genesis unveils its new GV70 2026 electric SUV

The Genesis GV70 2026 will arrive in the North American market next year, offering notable improvements in technology and comfort over the current model.

Ahead of the opening of the Los Angeles Auto Show, which kicks off today and runs until December 1, the South Korean manufacturer Genesis has just presented the new versions of the GV70 SUV for the 2026 model year, both with combustion engines and fully electric. This announcement coincides with the expansion of Genesis’s dealer network in North America, which now has 60 sales points following the opening of four new facilities in Washington, Minnesota, Florida and New York.

The new 2026 GV70 is scheduled to begin arriving at dealerships in North America during the first half of 2025, with a wide range of versions to suit the specific needs of each type of customer, whether they prefer a vehicle with a combustion engine or have already decided to make the transition to electric mobility. For now we do not know whether this model will also reach Europe, but it is to be expected that it will, although probably a few months later.

It is also worth noting that the electric versions of the GV70 will arrive in the North American market with an important novelty: adopting the North American charging standard NACS, while maintaining compatibility with the CCS1 Combined Charging System via an adapter. In this way, Genesis aims to give its customers access to as many charging points as possible in this market, so that recharging the vehicle is not a problem.

More range and a new “offroad” mode

Genesis has announced that the electric 2026 GV70 will feature a battery pack with greater capacity than the current generation’s, totaling 84 kWh. It seems, therefore, that it could be the same battery pack we have already seen in some Hyundai Motor models, such as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 or the KIA EV6. Another noteworthy novelty is that both the combustion-engine and electric GV70 will include for the first time a driving mode for when you leave the road, called Terrain Mode, which will optimize the driving experience on snow, mud or sand depending on the conditions of the track.

The GV70 is the company’s most successful model currently in the North American market, with more than 85,000 units sold over the last three years. The South Korean manufacturer is confident that the new 2026 edition of this SUV, in both its combustion-engine and electric versions, will maintain this good reception among the public by offering, as it does now, an attractive combination of performance and elegance.

According to the company, the GV70 will be available in ten paint colors for the combustion-engine versions and six for the electric versions. There will also be the option to choose between two interior color combinations. As in other Genesis models, the GV70 will come as standard with a digital key, making it possible to access the vehicle via a mobile device, and even share the vehicle with family or friends simply by sending them a link to the digital key on their devices.
