Heads up! The new Peugeot 4008 could arrive in 2023

The new Peugeot 4008 will be an electrified coupé SUV that will be able to go head to head with models such as the BMW X2 or the Audi Q3 Sportback.

Did you think the lion brand was going to be the only one not to venture into the world of coupé SUVs? Some specialist sources claim that in 2023 the renewed Peugeot 4008 will arrive, although, it is possible that we will see it this very year, 2022. The future French coupé SUV will feature electrified powertrains and a sloping roofline that will make it the big brother of the Peugeot 3008.

The Peugeot 4008 was a B-SUV based on the Mitsubishi produced between 2012 and 2017. This model was replaced by the Peugeot 2008, but since 2018 there have been rumours of a rebirth of the Peugeot 4008. Today, this coupé SUV could compete with models such as the Audi Q3 Sportback, the BMW X2 or even the Renault Arkana.

Everything we know about the future Peugeot 4008

The Peugeot 4008 would have a slimmer profile, a more aerodynamic roofline and very pronounced wheel arches. The grille would incorporate the new lion brand emblem flanked by LED headlights with vertical extensions in the black-painted bumpers.

Inside, we expect the model to share iCockpit with the 3008, which means it could feature a 10-inch 3D digital instrument cluster and another 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. Features such as ambient lighting and high-quality upholstery materials, combined with high-tech equipment from the Stellantis portfolio, would help the Peugeot 4008 be considered a rival to the offerings of premium car manufacturers.

While the silhouette of the Peugeot 4008 will share common elements with the Citroen C4, it is most likely based on the latest evolution of the EMP2 platform that currently underpins the Peugeot 308 and the DS 4. Its dimensions are expected to fall between the 4,450 mm of the 3008 and the 4,636 mm of the 308 SW. As for engines, the latest rumours point to the coupé SUV being offered in four different plug-in hybrid variants, combining the turbocharged 1.6-litre PureTech petrol engine with one or two fully electric motors.

Judging by the current Peugeot line-up, these would include two front-wheel-drive PHEVs with combined outputs of 180 CV and 225 CV, plus two all-wheel-drive PHEVs with 300 CV and 360 CV. We will have to wait a little longer to learn all the details of the lion brand’s future coupé SUV.
