Hennessey's Audi RS6 Avant will overtake Father Christmas himself

Who needs reindeer when you have a Hennessey Audi RS6 Avant?

It’s December 23rd, and if you still haven’t put up your Christmas tree, you may be stressed out and even on the verge of a full-blown panic attack. Above all, because time is running out. Fortunately, Hennessey Performance has taken the lead in scientific testing and has managed to find out which is the fastest car with a Christmas tree on the roof.

The high-performance tuner has been developing these tests since 2019, when it sent a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SRT with 1,014 CV to a track and managed to reach a top speed of 291 km/h. A real feat!

These figures are not bad at all, but if you’re really in a hurry, every kilometre per hour counts. The team then continued its tests and in 2020, Hennessey took a tuned Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to the track. On this occasion, the Mustang did not set a speed record, so we can assume it failed to beat the figure set by the Jeep in 2019.

This year, Hennessey set out to break the record, so John Hennessey went for his tuned Porsche 911 Turbo S with 760 CV. He took it to the track, and they must have thought he would achieve a record figure, because the car reached a top speed of 332 km/h, though without a Christmas tree on the roof.

It is hard to tell whether this was simply an endurance test or a combination of the two, but with a Christmas tree on the roof, John Hennessey’s Porsche 911 only managed to reach 281 km/h. A figure below the record! We are sure there is some model that could take the record away from the Jeep.

So Hennessey turned to a German estate. The Audi RS6 Avant de Hennessey offers 811 CV and belongs to Hope, John Hennessey’s wife. The team was very confident about the RS6 Avant’s chances. Similarly to the Porsche, the Audi was much slower with a tree on the roof than without one, but at the end of the track it managed to reach a top speed of 295 km/h, officially making it the ideal vehicle for those with big budgets and limited time to buy a Christmas tree.

And it doesn’t matter that a 1.8-metre Douglas fir can probably fit inside the estate. Science isn’t about being sensible; it’s about carrying out ill-advised tests to find the answers to silly questions. John Hennessey has stated that “this has been a fun way to end our speed testing session with the Venom F5. After all, who needs reindeer when your wife has an 800 CV sleigh?”
